Tense:- Past Perfect Tense

                               

-> The tense used to talk about actions that were completed before some point in the past is called Past Perfect Tense. It is also called Pluperfect Tense.

Generally, It is used to refers to those sentences in which one action is completed before another action and both actions are completed in the past.

e.g. ट्रेन आने से पहले मैं स्टेशन पहुँच गया था।

    - I had reached the station before the train arrived.

पहचानने का नियम

-> इन वाक्यों के अंत में चुका था, चुकी थी, चुके थे, या था, यी थी, ये थे आदि शब्द आते हैं।

Formats

* For Affirmative Sentences 

-> Sub + had + V₃ + Obj + time reference

e.g. बारिश हो चुकी थी |

    - It had rained.

      उसने अपनी किताबें छोड़ दी थीं।

    - He had left his books.

       मैंने उससे बात कर ली थी |

    - I had talked to her/him.

* For Negative Sentences 

-> Sub + had + not + V₃ + Obj + time reference

                      or

-> Sub + hadn't + V₃ + Obj + time reference

e.g. वह लडका स्कूल कभी नहीं गया था |

   - That boy had not gone to school ever.   

                    or

   - That boy had never gone to school.

     उसने मुझसे बात नहीं की थी।

   - He had not talked to me.

    उसने पूरे सेमेस्टर के दौरान मुझसे कभी बात नहीं की थी।

   - He had not talked to me during the whole semester ever.

                      or

   - He had never talked to me during the whole semester.

* For Interrogative Sentences

-> Had + sub + V₃ + Obj + time reference

e.g. क्या तुमने उसकी बेइज्जती की थी?

    - Had you insulted him?

     क्या उनहोंने बिजली का बिल चुका दिया था?

    - Had they deposited the electricity bill?

* For Interrogative-Negative Sentences

-> Had + sub + not + V₃ + Obj + time reference

                      or

-> Hadn't + sub + V₃ + Obj + time reference

e.g. क्या तुमने उसका अपमान नहीं किया था?

    - Had you not insulted him? 

                   or

    - Hadn't you insulted him?

      क्या वह पटना नहीं गई थी?

    - Hadn't she gone to Patna?

* For Wh-word sentences

-> Wh-word + had + sub + V₃ + Obj + time reference

e.g. आपने अपने कपड़े खुद क्यों धोए थे?

     - Why had you washed your clothes yourself?

      आपने इतना काम कैसे पूरा किया?

    - How had you completed so much work?

      उन्होंने रणवीर से क्या कहा था?

   - What had he said to Ranveer?

* For Wh-word Negative sentences

-> Wh-word + had + sub + not + V₃ + Obj + time reference

                          or

-> Wh-word + hadn't + sub + V₃ + Obj + time reference

e.g. वह रात को क्यों नहीं सोई थी?

     - Why had she not slept at the night?

      पिछली रात वह क्यों नहीं सोई थी?

     - Why hadn't she slept the last night?

      उसने अपने दोस्त का इंतजार क्यों नहीं किया?

     - Why had she not waited for her friend?
