Tense:- Past Perfect Continuous Tense

                            ...

-> The tense which shows that something had started in the past and continued up until another time in the past is known as Past Perfect Continuous Tense. It is also known as the Past Perfect Progressive Tense. 

पहचानने का नियम

-> इन वाक्यों के अंत में रहा था, रही थी, रहे थे आदि आते है


Note- If past time expressing words aren't given in the sentences then those sentences will be kept under Past Continuous Tense.

for e.g. वह 3 घंटे से डांस कर रही थी। - Past Perfect Continuous Tense

           वह डांस कर रही थी। - Past Continuous Tense


Formats

* For Affirmative Sentences 

-> Sub + had + been + V4 or V1 + ing + Obj + Time reference

e.g. हम सुबह से खेल रहे थे।

     - We had been playing since morning.

      मैं दो घंटे से चल रहा था।

     - I had been walking for two hours.


* For Negative Sentences 

-> Sub + had + not + been + V4 or V1 + ing + Obj + Time reference

                                       or 

-> Sub + hadn't + been + V4 or V1 + ing + Obj + Time reference

e.g. मैं दो घंटे से नहीं चल रहा था।

     - I had not been walking for two hours.

      हम पिछले कुछ दिनों से काम नहीं कर रहे थे।

    - We hadn't been working for the last few days.


* For Interrogative Sentences 

-> Had + sub + been + V4 or V1 + ing + Obj + Time reference + ?

e.g. क्या हम दो घंटे से क्रिकेट खेल रहे थे?

     - Had we been playing cricket for two hours?

      क्या वह 2 बजे से कुछ काम कर रहा था?

     - Had he been doing some work since 2 o'clock?


* For Interrogative-Negative Sentences 

-> Had + sub + not + been + V4 or V1 + ing + Obj + Time reference + ?

                                     or

-> Hadn't + sub + been + V4 or V1 + ing + Obj + Time reference + ?

e.g. क्या वे कल रात से सो नहीं रहे थे?

    - Had they not been sleeping since last night?

      क्या वह सोमवार से पुस्तक नहीं पढ़ रहा था?

    - Hadn't he been reading the book since Monday?


* For Wh-word Sentences 

-> Wh-word + had + sub + been + V4 or V1 + ing + Obj + Time reference + ?

e.g. वे दो दिनों से मुझे परेशान क्यों कर रहे थे?

     - Why had they been irritating me for the two days?

      वह पिछले तीन दिनों से मेरी मदद क्यों कर रही थी?

     - Why had she been helping me for the last three days?


* For Wh-word Negative Sentences 

-> Wh-word + had + sub + not + been + V4 or V1 + ing + Obj + Time reference +?

                                                 or

-> Wh-word + hadn't + sub + been + V4 or V1 + ing + Obj + Time reference +?

e.g. वे पिछले एक घंटे से मेरा काम क्यों नहीं कर रहे थे?

    - Why hadn't they been doing my work for the last one hour?

      वह पिछले दो घंटे से क्यों रो रही थी?

    - Why had she been weeping for the last two hours?
